Sixty-five Fijians will have the opportunity to work in Australia under the Pacific Australia Labor Mobility Scheme.

It comes after Australian workforce hiring employer Whales Regional Workforce paid a courtesy visit to Permanent Employment Secretary Osea Cawaru.

Whales Regional Workforce under the Labor Mobility Program is a new approved employer and the first PLS employer to travel to Fiji to recruit workers this year.

Cawaru says the new employer is in Fiji to interview clients registered with the National Employment Center and to recruit 65 Fijians to work in the meat industry in Victoria, Australia.

Cawaru stressed that Fijians have been eagerly awaiting this great opportunity as most of them have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The WRW team praised the good participation during the interview and the engagement of the Fijian government, through the Department of Employment, for the well-coordinated administrative work and COVID security protocols implemented during interviewing potential candidates.

The Permanent Employment Secretary reminded potential Fijian workers to strictly observe COVID-19 safety protocols and minimize social gatherings pending mobilization, and to avoid disruption when preparing for their departure once selected.
