Renowned worldwide as a tourist destination, Northumberland is also the ideal place to find the perfect work-life balance. What better way to enjoy the scenic landscapes and beautiful coastline than to experience it on a daily basis? Northumberland County Council serves a diverse population in a large and varied geographical landscape. We are proud and passionate people who are deeply invested in our great county. We offer challenging and rewarding careers for people who want to make a difference for Northumberland residents.

We are currently looking to recruit for a newly created role to lead the delivery of high quality recruitment and join our award winning, dedicated and progressive HR/OD department. We are ambitious – we want to attract the best talent and be an employer of choice in a competitive job market. We know we’re a great employer (we think you’ll agree), but we need you to help us build our employer brand and share it with the world. You will bring your expertise in tools (including digital ones), techniques and methodologies, your ability to analyze the job market and your skill in identifying trends. One of the priority objectives of this role is to develop and ensure organizational commitment with a recruitment strategy that will attract (and retain) excellent people to come and work with us.

While working in partnership with the HR/OD team, you will be given some autonomy to allow you to be creative in attracting candidates to join the Board. We want you to stand out and grow your networks and partnerships. Your drive, passion and enthusiasm will take us beyond the traditional transactional towards a truly transformational approach to recruiting and talent acquisition.

In return, we have exceptional benefits to offer you, including:

A starting salary of £48,402 (rising to £51,780) 25 days annual leave plus public and bank holidays (rising to 30 after 5 years of service) (prorated for part-time employees)

Automatic registration at Local authority pension scheme

A generous flexi scheme

Local government discount programs available to all employees with offers at local businesses as well as various national brands

A commitment to work-life balance providing flexibility through various programs including job sharing, remote and hybrid work, flexible work, mid-year work and compressed hours

A wide range of salary sacrifice plans

Professional development opportunities

A friendly, professional and supportive team of HR and OD colleagues
