The momentum of the organization seems to be building and our efforts to work 1 on 1 with individuals/families and our employer partners are beginning to pay significant dividends.

HICKORY, NORTH CAROLINA, USA, August 8, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — HICKORY, North Carolina — HKY4Vet, a community initiative powered by the private and public sectors in Catawba County that helps transitioning military and military families find career opportunities, professional connections and other resources for veterans in Metro Hickory, is honored with announce 15 Talent Connect Partners for 2022-23. Over the coming year, HKY4Vets will work alongside and on behalf of these veteran-ready employers to connect them with military and military spouse talent throughout the Southeast, while also benefiting members of the service in their search for their next goal, mission and team.

Founded and jointly led by The Catawba County Chamber and Catawba County Economic Development Corporation In 2016, HKY4Vets worked to develop a sustainable work plan based on three overarching priorities on behalf of its employer partners: Awareness, Advocacy and Access. Since its inception, HKY4Vets’ work has included best practices workshops for employers interested in recruiting and retaining military talent, advocating for public policy that keeps North Carolina competitive for transition military talent, hosting in-person and virtual hiring events and more. .

Looking ahead, HKY4Vets aims to continue to intensify its efforts in each key priority area to ultimately increase the quantity and quality of candidates for our local employers within this niche market. Over the past year, HKY4Vets has hosted four virtual hiring events with over 30 participating employers and over 165 attendees from 15 states and two foreign countries. Efforts to expand these events into some of the nation’s largest virtual military and military spouse talent recruiting events, with the goal of increasing attendance and positive outcomes for candidates and employers local, started.

Additionally, HKY4Vets aims to work with corporate partners to welcome the first cohort of “HKY4Vets Fellows” under the Department of Defense SkillBridge program, as well as to establish the first professional networking group. of the region for service and military spouses. The group, currently called HKY4Vets Professional Connections (PC) is intended to act as an immediate community for working professionals or job seekers who have recently moved to our area or who may have even lived here for decades.
