Saudi Gazette report
RIYAD – The Department of Human Resources and Social Development said its early intervention resolved a dispute between a Saudi citizen and a number of Filipino housekeepers and they were subsequently returned to the Philippines.
The return of the cleaning ladies was in accordance with their wishes and that in coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh.
The ministry said in a press release that it is currently in contact with its Filipino counterpart regarding information that appeared in a section of the media in that country regarding the temporary suspension of the recruitment of Filipino housekeepers in the Kingdom.
The ministry made this clarification after learning about media reports about the temporary suspension of the recruitment of housekeepers in the Kingdom following a dispute between the Filipino housekeepers and a citizen.
The ministry stressed its concern for anything that would guarantee the rights of workers of all nationalities.
“The ministry is working with the official channels of its Filipino counterparts to discuss media reports regarding Manila’s temporary suspension of sending domestic workers to the Kingdom,” the statement added.
The ministry earlier introduced a new electronic service named âMaaroufahâ to recruit housekeepers from the Philippines.
