Moray Chamber of Commerce Receives Gold Employer Recognition Award for Supporting Area Armed Forces Community

The MORAY Chamber of Commerce has been awarded gold status in the Employer Recognition Awards – which recognize employers who support the armed forces community.

The Chamber, which signed the Armed Forces Pact, was initially awarded silver status in 2016 and received a reconfirmation silver honor earlier this year.

To receive the gold award, the Moray Chamber of Commerce had to ensure that its staff were aware of its positive policies towards defense personnel issues.

It also had to demonstrate that military personnel and members of the armed forces community are not unfairly disadvantaged in their recruitment and selection processes.

A total of 156 organizations were recognized this year, nine of which received the gold medal. The award will be presented to Moray Chamber at a ceremony at Stirling Castle in September.

Sarah Medcraf, Managing Director of Moray Chamber, said: “We are delighted to receive the Gold Award.

“The military is rooted in the community of Moray through veterans, reservists and staff, as well as spouses, and we want equity across the region for them.

“We are proud of our achievement and encourage any company considering making a commitment to do so.”

Moray Chamber has been involved in the military community for years, including joining the campaign to save RAF Lossiemouth in 2011.

The Employer Recognition Program is operated by the Department of Defense to recognize employers who are committed to the Armed Forces community and align their values with the Armed Forces Company Compact.
