NPTC Group of Colleges is proud to announce that it has been awarded Silver Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) status. The organization recognizes the vital role of the British Armed Forces and the valuable contribution members of the forces make to British defence, their communities and the civilian workplace.
The College made a commitment to support the armed forces following the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant in 2019, demonstrating its commitment to supporting veterans, reservists and their families currently in education and employment, to to promote the College as an armed forces friendly organization and to encourage those who serve, or have served, to join the College.
A total of 24 organizations across Wales have been awarded. Through the Defense Employer Recognition Program, employers support Defense personnel and encourage others to do the same. The program has three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold for organizations that engage, demonstrate and champion their support for Defense and the Armed Forces community.
To achieve Silver, organizations must proactively demonstrate that the Armed Forces community is not unfairly disadvantaged in their recruiting policies. They must also actively ensure that their personnel are aware of their positive policies towards Defense People’s Issues for Reservists, Veterans, Adult Cadet Force Volunteers, and Spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces.
NPTC Group of Colleges Director and CEO Mark Dacey said, “As a long-term provider of education and employment to the Defense Community, the College is delighted to receive the Silver Award. It is a testament to the College’s commitment that we recognize and understand that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in communities, the economy and society. The College already offers its own combined cadet force to students and will continue to offer support to our local cadets, either in the community or at local schools.
