Rail News: Amtrak
Amtrak this week was named to Forbes magazines America’s Best Employer for New Grads 2022 listing.
The designation comes as the national intercity passenger railroad “aggressively recruits and hires to fill thousands of jobs,” Amtrak officials said in a news release. Amtrak hires people to serve in railroad operations, information technology, finance, marketing, government affairs, and human resources.
Employers on the Forbes list were identified through an independent survey of nearly 20,000 young professionals working for companies with at least 1,000 employees in the United States. Respondents were assessed on work-related issues and their experiences in the workplace. They also rated their own employers on several factors, such as atmosphere and development, diversity, image, pay and salary, working conditions and workplace.
Officials highlighted the internship and co-op program for undergraduate and graduate students, which offers year-round paid positions. The program identifies and engages talented people and inspires career interest in working in the passenger railroad. Amtrak also offers rotational programs for recent graduates or early-career individuals, where they will gain cross-functional experience and exposure through challenging rotational assignments.
“Our mission to connect communities has never been more important, and with our growth, we are creating thousands of new jobs to provide more services, reduce our country’s carbon footprint and help the economy recover and to thrive in the years to come,” said the Amtrak President. and CEO Stephen Gardner.
