By Josh Marais

People looking for work in Chesterfield are invited to a recruitment event, where they can meet employers and learn about local job openings and training programs leading to employment.

The recruiting event takes place on Wednesday 12 October between 10am and 12pm in Chesterfield Market Square.

Councilor Amanda Serjeant, Deputy Leader of Chesterfield Borough Council, said: “Our previous events have helped many people gain new careers in Chesterfield. This event is really important as it helps connect job seekers and employers, allowing them to meet informally and discuss available roles before applying. This event is here to help you find your next job and I hope many people come to find out more about the opportunities available to them in Chesterfield.

Paul Munday, Employers Adviser at DWP Jobcentre Plus Derbyshire, said: “After the success of the last three recruitment events held in partnership with Chesterfield Borough Council, we are very pleased to be holding a fourth on Wednesday 12 October.

“For this event, in addition to giving Chesterfield residents the opportunity to talk to local employers and find sustainable employment, we are also hosting a Health and Wellbeing event in the Market Hall meeting rooms. This event will offer expert support for residents with health issues, as well as advice for the current cost of living crisis.

The drop-in is open to everyone, without an appointment, but jobseekers registered with Jobcentre Plus can reserve their place by contacting their work coach.

There will be many opportunities available on this day in various sectors including hospitality, social services, engineering, logistics, transportation and many more.

In addition to employment opportunities, there will also be several apprenticeship providers currently recruiting new apprentices. An apprenticeship offers a great opportunity to earn money while learning and can help people at any stage of life. Find apprenticeship places in Chesterfield by visiting:

Derbyshire Careers Service will also be at the event to promote the training courses but also advise job seekers on how they can get help with their CVs and interview techniques.
